This past week Paramount, the parent organization of CMT cancelled Jason Aldean’s hit, “Try That In A Small Town”.
Shortly after removing the song/video from the channel, the song surged to #1 in the iTunes chart and today it sits at #2.
Country Music Television (CMT) says it will no longer air the music video “Try That In a Small Town” by Jason Aldean after a few critics of the video said it contained lyrics that glorified gun violence and conveyed traditionally racist ideas.

Will Paramount Become the Next Bud Light?

Paramount enjoys a large subscriber base due to their popular TV shows such as Yellowstone, Bar Rescue, Ink Master, and Younger but will that last?
Bud Light maker Anheuser-Busch InBev has lost a whopping $27 billion in market value in the wake of its star-crossed partnership with Dylan Mulvaney.

My Common Sense Thoughts

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, I stay away from publicizing political issues.
But, I don’t consider this a political issue, it’s common sense.

There’s nothing wrong with these lyrics and there is no racial significance at all.  He’s simply saying that the following won’t happen in a small town and they take care of each other.

The softies in this country want us to feel sorry for these criminals but if they or their loved ones were on the other end, I’m sure that they would gladly accept help from these small town residents.
Critics also point out that the courthouse was the site of a brutal lynching in 1927, in which 18-year-old Henry Choate was killed and hung from the building.  Do you really believe that is why this courthouse was used in the video?  What about the numerous other movies and TV shows that have used the same filming location such as “Hannah Montana: The Movie”?  She’ll probably be next on the chopping block.
Where are these same critics when it comes to the rap songs and videos promoting violence toward police officers?
Our country is turning into a joke because of this cancel culture BS.
People need to quit politicizing everything and use some common sense.  Unfortunately, nowadays every issue is politicized and the bandwagon effect is in full gear regardless of one’s true beliefs.  This is the case for both democrats and republicans.  It’s OK to disagree with your party.  People need to start thinking for themselves.
