Media Conglomerate Triller has filed a $100 million lawsuit in the US District Court of Calif. against illegal streamers of the Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren boxing match.
The lawsuit targets 11 different streaming websites and 100 individuals (John Does) who Triller says illegally broadcasted the event.
The filing pursues numerous counts including copyright infringement and breach of the Federal Communications Act.
Through this action, Triller seeks in excess of $100,000,000.00 against Defendants and each of them all of whom are cyber-criminals, for their outright theft and diversion of upwards of 2,000,000 unique viewers by providing them with illegal and unauthorized viewings of the Broadcast of the Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren boxing event

In the lawsuit, Triller claims these services obtained the event stream through pay-per-view purchases or other actions and re-transmitted them without authorization.
Therefore, these websites and individuals are also facing a breach of contract claim for distributing the event.
Because of payments received, Triller is also accusing the sites of conspiracy to unlawfully access, copy, and distribute the event.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen live streaming services targeted for illegal broadcasts.
