ESPN, FOX, & Warner Bros. Announce Sports Streaming Service
ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery have joined forces to bring sports fans an exciting new streaming service. This collaboration between three media powerhouses will offer a comprehensive package that includes popular live channels such as ESPN, FOX, Fox Sports, ABC, and more, as well as other exclusive content.
The service is planned to launch sometime in Fall 2024 and will provide users with access to a wide array of sports programming. From live NFL and NBA games to MLB, NHL, and college sports, viewers can expect to enjoy their favorite teams and athletes in action.
The joint venture, owned equally by ESPN, FOX, and Warner Bros, will offer a standalone app for seamless streaming. While specific pricing details have yet to be released, sports enthusiasts can look forward to experiencing the thrill of their favorite sports and events in the convenience of a single streaming platform.
Unlike other streaming packages that have limited content and may only be focused on one sport, the latest venture from ESPN, FOX, and WB will have a large array of sports including both pro and college. Listed below are some popular options users can expect to find with this service:
NFL/UFL
NBA/WNBA
MLB
NHL
B1G, Big 12, Big East, SEC
PGA Tour/PGA Championship/The Masters
Wimbledon/US Open/Australian Open
FIFA/MLS/UEFA/CONCACAF
UFC/Top Rank Boxing
Formula 1/NASCAR
and more
The service will include popular cable channels such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, ABC, FOX, FS1, FS2, BTN, TNT, TBS, truTV, and ESPN+ for both live streaming as well as highlights, replays, and analysis.
Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger noted the following on their latest innovation:
The launch of this new streaming sports service is a significant moment for Disney and ESPN, a major win for sports fans, and an important step forward for the media business, this means the full suite of ESPN channels will be available to consumers alongside the sports programming of other industry leaders as part of a differentiated sports-centric service.
Warner Brothers CEO David Zaslav also expressed his excitement for this new merger that will provide a wide array of sports content:
At WBD, our ambition is always to connect our leading content and brands with as many viewers as possible, and this exciting joint venture and the unparalleled combination of marquee sports rights and access to the greatest sporting events in the world allows us to do just that.
In today’s streaming landscape, dozens of media companies are competing for viewers’ attention leaving the market saturated and unappealing. One way to combat this is to combine various services which we have seen in the past including HBO Max & Discovery Plus as well as Disney+ and Hulu.
This will be a welcome addition to the streaming landscape as live sporting events dominate the television ratings and many only have cable or other IPTV Services solely for this purpose.
