#firetv #shieldtv #benchmark #firestick
The 1st Shield has more ram (3gb vs 2) than the pro and especially the SD card slot for easier access and copying of files to the internal memory. Processor speed is the most important, ram too.
We better see Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2 2023 version it's time four gigs of RAM
I personally prefer faster cpu power for snappy launching of apps and navigation of menus. If possible, in your upcoming review please compare multitasking performance and AI upscaling between the two.
No, this test does NOT change anything for me. I have a Shield and I have not regretted buying it. I could have bought a cube, but I’m glad that I didn’t. At the time, I wanted the best, and that was the Shield. As far as I am concerned, NOTHING crushes the Shield. Period! Peace.
I have the 2017 Shield and the 2019 Shield Tube… and I would not trade them for anything! Real world experience verifies the test results. Gonna buy a cube for the middle son for Christmas though; he is all-in on the Amazon ecosystem.
They both are great devices. Scores don't mean much to me. Thanks for sharing brother Triple M!! 👍🏾👊🏾✊🏾🙂💯
Nvidia still KING 🤴
Benchmark tests are great for comparing one component between devices. But it is the user’s total experience that comes from using a device for his or her own uses that matters most. This can not be measured by a benchmark because it is different for each of us. Take a speaker for example. What good does it do to have a speaker that can produce sounds that are beyond the ability of the human ear to hear such sounds? It is implied that a speaker that produces the larger bandwidth will have less distortion in sounds it produces within the human hearing range, but does it? It may not. The real benchmark is how does this speaker sound to the individual buying it when playing his or her music in the room that the speaker will be used in. Also a Big factor is trust in the company behind the product to keep features and capabilities working as intended when pushing down new upgrades. There has been a lot of fear lately that certain features and abilities that the Fire line of products has now may betaken away from their devices in the future.
Nvidia Shield all day long I have two no complaints
At full price the Shield wins hands down, however, at Prime & Black Friday prices, the C3 is a far better value.
It's mostly a streaming TV box not a micro game console so GPU doesn't matter.
Well it’s the processor score.if you’re just into streaming . not gaming. . That’s very interesting. You have no Internet like I do I live in Turkey my Internet speed is absolutely terrible definitely processing score
I got spatial surround Dolby Atmos through 4 Echo Studios and Echo Sub on the Fire TV Cube v3 with a EDID handshake work around and it sounds amazing. I'm sure I won't have to do this work around for too long. Amazon will make that happen and with Luna, Game Pass, GeForce now and Moonlight game streaming. The processor is probably more important now for a streaming device.
Truth be told , Ive been an amazon device junkie, but this new cube upgrade might be the thing that finally has me crossover to android devices. The CPU processor is just an Amazon gimmick to get us to stay. Dissapointed in no 3.0 usb and no gigabyte ethernet, if youre gonna upgrade ur flagship device, why not go all the way? Just had a 2nd gen Cube go on the blink n best Am. Could do was offer me a 15% discount to buy a new 1. Left a bad taste in my mouth. 3rd Gen. CUBE, [Not Convincing]
CPU because I don’t game with it.
it's about cpu and supported codecs for streaming devices, the shield is meant to be able to also play games while the fire cube is not. so comparing gpu is pointless

Nah for streming ai upscaling Graphics Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 ver. 11 + T7 USB 3.0 😉
2022 who cares about GPU benchmarks. It's not relevante for cloud gaming so… 2022 right? Why would amazon or anyone else doing streaming devices invest on GPU in yes, still 2022. Compare the UI? Shield still has a 1080p UI, everyone else, for many years has 4K. What about wifi 6 or wifi 6e like the cube has? and hdmi 2.1? and av1? ah wait, shield still doesn't even have vp9p2.
since video playback is graphics and so much processing is done though graphics processing with codecs the graphics score is very important and does not just mean its a score for games so the total score is the most important and the fact that the main processor is faster does not make the machine faster
I’ve had a Shield since 2017. After one day with the 3rd Gen Cube, I’m switching over to it as my streaming device. Just felt that the HDR/DV image locked much better on my QLED TV.
It's not
How about comparing the fire cube 3rd gen to the 2022 Roku ultra
I'd like to know if either of these devices with all their power makes watching Netflix any better say compared to the 4k Max or the 2022 Roku ultra?
Thanks for the review.
Thanks for the review.,
For me, the AI upscaling which enhances the quality of the picture is more important than anything else and the fact that
it can be connected to two external drives via USB makes it worthwhile. So I have my Samsung Qled 65 inch and Samsung UN55JU6500F TVs
both connected to an NVIDIA SHIELD PRO.
3GB ram vs 2GB ram GPU at 1267 MHZ and have an excellent code name Marikon vs 800 mhz 2 USB 3.0 vs 1 USB 2.0 Ethernet 1GB vs 100mg Better Ai Upscaling than the Super Res This company makes Graphic Cards 😉 for games and better resolutions/performance and the best was made in 2019 and the worst 2022
The test is irrelevant since the shield is optimized for gaming!!
Nvidia Shield just got a new update do a video 😃👍
Still going strong with a 2016 shield. Amazing bit of kit and still supported with updates.
Ive never purchased a shield because of price alone but recently ive invested into a dedicated theater room and am now looking for the best pucture and audio available to me. I steam 99% of the time and im considering the cube based only because its newer and has newer technology which means to me that it seems like it would be better suited for future updates with wifi 6 being a starting point since i have a router/modem that supports wifi 6
I always thought CPU power was of more use for film watching. And GPU power was preferred for gaming. I myself personally don't use any of my streaming devices for gaming at all. Just used for watching streamed film and television content, mainly on Netflix and Prime Video.
RAM and Network interface are where the firecube fails. 10/100 must have been a dumpster dive
Does the new Cube still cap ethernet speeds at 10/100 Mbps?
The shield was originally designed for gaming and was transitioned to a streaming device as an afterthought. If you are only interested in the streaming aspects, the Cube is certainly all you need.
I compared both , nvidia won on sound section . In firecube it was just plain , but with nvidia sheild it's amazing
does the fire tv cube have a fan inside? the shield has one and thats one of the plus points about it
The biggest problem with the cube, or any FTV device for that matter, is the ethernet speed is capped at 10/100 mbps. This only matters when you're streaming ultra-high quality movies, etc. over your LAN, such as a Remux
Sheild is still the daddy
I'm only watching tv and movies. Which one has better video for that?
Is it just me? I own two 2019 Shields, a normal and a pro. Love them. No doubting they are amazing. ai upscaling is king on video for streaming, BUT, I'm going to switch to try a fire cube because I am just so dog tired of how glitchy their software can be! Too many random restarts. Glitchy audio. Plenty of issues, all intermittent, but now enough to make me not crow so much about how good they are because I crave a box that just works, and keeps working!!!! (BTW I've not just got a dodgy box, its on both and I know what I am doing with settings) Fire cube test here we come!
If your running Kodi builds this matters a lot
Damn 2 min video has about 30 pop ups. Wtf man
Ive had both of these, and for streaming i felt the new cube was “snappier”.
So the Cube is faster in the menus and loading apps but the Sheild is better at games.
