  1. Great job Johnathon! I would update the part at 2:04 where you enter the SMB client. This is not only for mobile but for all devices and it is extremely important. I missed it the first time around. Also, all should know that every time you refresh your Modem or Gateway this usually changes your IPv4 address. You will then need to edit your source in the file manager within Kodi. We have AT&T U verse and they actually recommend that you re-boot your Gateway every couple of weeks to clear data from the router/modem and this sometimes changes the IPv4 addy. Thanks again !

  2. Thank you! When I installed Windows 10 all my Kodi locations stopped working, and your written explanation above is the only useful solution I have found after considerable research. I now have all my local server files accessible again on my Fire TV Stick 4K.

  3. Hey Johnathon – thank you so much for this video!! : ) Especially the "smb 1.0 activation" hint – it got my old xbmc 13 with Apple tv2 on my new Windows 10 laptop working again!!
I think all in all I must have spend over 20 hours of research over the last 8 months, before finding your tutorial. Best regards from Germany my good man!

  4. I'm really confused with email I used on pc is it Microsoft password or my gmail password. Nothing works. Please advise. I never had this issues before windows 10 updated to some crap. I can share my movies on my other 2 laptop but now only one. I'm lost. But plex I shared on 2 laptops. Kodi nope

  5. To get my NAS running in KODI on my Fire TV 4K Stick, Cube and on my Android Smartphone was really simple. But to use my NAS on my W10 PC was really hard. Lots of tries. Thank you very much! Without your help in this video I still would try for many hrs and days. It's so good to have people like you helping other people and making their lifes easier. Thanks again!

  6. Thanks a lot !! I had to setup a password for my user login, but if it saves me the troubles of copying stuff from my pc to my usb stick each time I want to watch something, it's really worth it !! Maybe it's possible without creating a password, but I didn't manage to do it..

  7. I am using Kodi 19.4 on Firestick 4K Max. Everything has worked fine on Wifi. I switched everything over to hardwired connections and went in to update and when down a nasty rabbit hole. So I'm setting it all up again. However, when I follow your video instructions, when I press "OK" it tells me, "Error: Connection Refused." Could my ISP be blocking it on the network? I find it very strange. Any advise or help appreciated. Windows 10 laptop with external hard drive attached for media source.

  8. kodi auto updated to version 20 – then it could not find my network anymore. I disabled updates and found an apk for version 19.4 – set it up how i knew how – and the SMB network did not work.
I would always go to – Browse for new share – not "add network location" – but I would just click on Windows Network (SMB) and my workgroup would appear (smb v1 and legacy security ofc). but after my reinstall this no longer worked – it could see the workgroup but would say "connection refused" – or "network dropped due to reset" I had to follow your tutorial and add my computers with their IP addresses and then it worked
very annoying kodi – but thankyou mate for a quick and easy fix!! legend 🙂
