Onn is a really crappy brand. They are always the cheapest brand in Walmart whatever the product is. I accidentally fried two Firesticks with their shitty charger cable. So now when I even see that brand I ignore it. Not surprised that you broke two of them, it is a very cheap brand. For that reason I would never recommend ANY of their products.
Never get them in Ireland so no point watching
I've had my Onn box for six months now and I personally like it better than the firestick. As for it being cheap, all I can say is I've had 3 firesticks break on me, be it they crap out and stop working out the remote stops working. So by comparison I've had no issue with the Onn box.

AS FOR AMAZON SWITCHING OVER TO CLOSED SOFTWARE, IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 3 TO 6 YEARS TO TRANSFER OVER TO THEIR NEWLY OS. BY THAT TIME, AMAZON WILL DECIDE IF WE COULD STILL TRANSFER 3RD PARTY APPS OVER TO THE NEW OS, OR DEVELOPERS ARE PLANNING AHEAD FOR THE FUTURE. 3RD PARTY APPS, WILL NEVER DIE OUT.
