I highly doubt that the new OS is related to existing hardware.
It will be an option for new products, but here in Europe Amazon could get in trouble for changing products after selling them.
The intention (more control) is clear, but only for hardware sold with the new OS, which is still being developed.

i will trash my fire stick i have 3 of them cancel my amazon prime acc just watched a video that recommended other devices one is the onn android device and the Xiaomi TV Box S (2nd Gen) 4K Ultra HD video said you can still sideload on them what do recommend or your thoughts if i cant side load what i want i have no use for the fire stick amazon is fixing to lose money on this

I’m on my third or fourth fire stick and have a fire TV in one of my bedrooms. I would definitely drop all of them and quit using them if they stop the sideloading capabilities and of course I would never purchase another one again.

Time to stock up on the lates fire tv as they become advance, once the vega comes out ill not be buying into that system anytime soon hopefully kodi devs build a kodi that can run on it. Me media libary is fully fire cube run.
Nvidia shield tv pro is the king. Adding storage is a breeze. It has Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision powerful. Any app you install is no problem. Amazon wants to call everything.
Already stopped and bought the ONN Android boxes from Walmart for just $20 and threw away all my firesticks

Yeah, I just bought another Nvidia Shield, and I am done with Fire TV. You really don't even own them. Amazon can shut them off whenever they want to. Don't believe me? If anything ever goes wrong with your account, like a billing or credit card error, and they close it down, you don't get to watch TV anymore. Not on any Fire TV devices. That's the truth. I had AmEx dispute, which was not my fault at all, and they shut me down, until my account was returned to me. I believe it was like 6 mos. Unbelievable.
Not to mention that Nvidia Shields make those look like cheap toys.
I probably won't use it anymore, I he ace actually parked my FireTV stick because of the lack of storage and the need for the extra equipment to enhance the storage, I went back to my Beelink Mini MXIII-II, with this device I can sideload any app and I can have a 32gb formatted as main storage to add to my Beelink main memory, I can add a USB storage to record on, the only thing is that I have a much older Android version, but it works great still, Prime works on it and Netflix, Plex etc. I think I will sell my FireTV stick.
For sure, no side loading mean no need to put up with fire tv draw backs. Will definitely dump it.
