It seems as though one of the latest Firestick updates is now Bricking Fire tv devices. This is not limited to Fire tv sticks, but also TV’s and Fire cubes as well. Devices are becoming stuck on the home screen, making it impossible to access your device.

  1. Seems like another reason to avoid Amazon devices. I haven't even used mine yet and I don't think I ever will. Nvidia seems to be the way to go and maybe a Roku for the questionable apps? My overall goal is to have a firewall and home server with software to block ads, stop the tracking and keeping these back door devices secured from their manufacturers as much as possible so I can secure my VLAN, home theater, home automation and security systems for both buildings. I don't know how practical this goal is, but I'm going to try either way.

  2. Amazon told me if I want to buy a new firestick they will give me a discount I bought one but not from the. And they won't give me anything lol you can trade your firestick in and get credit added to your account it isn't a lot but better than nothing

  3. Another reason not to own a FireStick device. Every time mine was updated, I would have to do some sort of work around to get disabled functions working again. For example, I have to engage in a whole bunch of janky tweaks just to get my Wolf Launcher working again. That's seriously annoying. I would like to think that I own the FireStick after purchasing it. Do you really own your FireStick or does Amazon own it when they fundamentally screw around with the firmware whenever they want to alter the function of the device. This is why I purchased an NVIDIA Shield Pro. They don't pull the Amazon two step on you. I guess they respect your ownership of the device. Very very much worth it.

  4. I had this problem with my Firestick 4k about a week ago. All I got was a black screen on myTV. I had two Firesticks, and one would work on an old Samsung TV and not on my Samsung smart TV. And I thought I was losing my mind. I looked on videos pertaining the subject and to no avail. And then I disabled my surge protectors (I turned them off), and then everything started to work. But I did learn a new word bricked.
Thanks so, so much for all your imput. I greatly appreciate it!

  5. At least youve acknowledged the fact theres a problem but amazon need to get their arse in gear toot suite their product is not fit for purpose and their answer is "BUY ANOTHER 1" That is not a solution to the worlds #1 streaming tool and if they want to hold onto that title they need to action this NOW!!!

  6. I sent a question over a week ago. To ask for help with the Roku Channel app. I keep getting a playback error saying unfortunately, we were unable to play this content. Please try again later. Any help that you can give me would be deeply appreciated.

  7. sorry but pointless video
you said exactly what happened, but that was in the title then went onto keep us watching to see what could be done , nothing ?.and what Amazon would do about it also no worthwhile info ..
sorry pal thats basically a click bait waste of 3mins.
you can take offence or take as feedback but it is what it is.

  8. Luckily my firestick has now been replaced by amazon thankfully I told them no matter if my device was 3 years old and out of warranty I said as a monthly subscriber I have consumer right's and that it was their fault with the software update they have done so I shouldn't have to go out and buy a new device when I had one already I said I'm going to give them 48 hours to decide to replace my device or I will seek legal action and said I know my right's as a customer people need to know it doesn't matter whether the device is 3-4 or ever old the device is if a company is still giving out software updates for that pacific device and it goes wrong in any way its the company's fault the device isn't working so they are at fault and need to replace it we all as a customer have consumer rights and are liable to sue and guess what amazon done for me tomorrow morning im getting a replacement device first thing they have said sorry and replace my firestick with a 4k ultra HD one too so people need to know there rights and fight back don't let a company tell you your device is out of warranty so they can't do anything about know your rights I won do yours
