Do you want to know how to fix when you can’t move apps to USB Storage on Firestick 4k Max! Tod to this unplug your firestick and usb device and then once the firestick boots up plug the usb drive in. Then go to settings, devices and software and usb drive and format it to eternal storage and then an option to format to internal storage will appear! If you don’t format to internal storage you won’t be able to move apps.

  1. I have a fire stick 4K max. It will only format a 16GB USB stick to external storage and I can't move anything to the stick. I retried reformatting to internal storage but it keeps showing external space. What am I missing. I am running with only 595MB of available memory.

  2. Hmmm.

I’ve tried 7 different OTG cables and 4 USB sticks, 2 of them purposefully bought for the Firestick 4K Max using the specs I’ve found online (3.0 USB, less than 128 GB). All of them format fine, all of them are recognized, but I don’t have a single app that has a “move to usb” option. I’ve moved apps over manually using X-plore (moving the APK file to USB, uninstalling the app on internal storage, reinstalling from APK on the the USB ) which kind of works. The Firestick sees that these apps are on USB, and I have an option to move them back to internal storage BUT I am still getting messages that I can’t update apps because of lack of storage. I’ve manually moved 33 apps over to USB. I’ve posted on Reddit. I’ve watched YouTube videos.

    I give up.
