The second gen fire stick is a lot like the switch to get a custom payload pushed over we need to short some pins this task is a bit tricky so if your not able to keep the wire stable or see the points I recommend not proceeding with the rest of the guide. But once done you won’t need to do it again!!!

After the process is done you can root or install any compatible os to the stick I will provide the Magisk zip and apk which sets up root.

As always my personal backup of the files I used at the time in the video will be down bellow but I recommend going to the xda forum and checking it out in case anything changes but most likely it won’t.

  1. hi there!
saw your video and thought i might get some help here.
bought from a flea shop one firestick 2nd gen, wich is stuck on amazon logo boot screen. so no wifi name and pass known.
also bought a remote control for it elsewhere, that isn't paired with the stick yet. it isn't pairing it the booting screen logo when holding home button pressed (as i red somewhere), so i can't try reseting it from the remote.

i'm not particulary interested in rooting/flashing new roms, etc, i'm just looking for the easiest way to make it work. maybe staying on stock software, no magisk and other things, if is easier this way. wich steps from the video should i follow for that and where to stop?
    thanks a lot!

  2. When I do the fastboot step it says waiting for device tried multiple times still same… Please help, thank you!(edit :- i tried keeping the short and press enter when it asked to remove and now it doesnt give any hdmi output in middle of the bootrom step it says rpmb looks broken but it still does flash )

But i download any application, and not allowing to open !!😢
Please can you help how can remove default app, he alway overlay

  4. Just as a note to anyone here – I did a check of the scripts being ran as sudo. From what I can see, there is nothing malicious going on for your Linux host, so its deemed safe.

Ps, great write up. Really well explained and got it first time. I managed to load self signed CA cert too, so proxying traffic is also possible.

  5. So I'm trying to short the CLK and GND and I'm sure I'm on the resistor with my wire (also tried a safety pin) but it just stays on waiting for bootrom. I even used the zoom on my phone to make sure im solidly on the resistor. And i know im making a connection because when i remove the short and plug in the USB without it i get the "serial protocol mismatch" error. When I'm shorting it though, nothing. I've been trying for hours with no success. I followed all instructions except I wasn't able to install the Universe repository. Im not sure if that's even necessary. I'm attempting this on Raspberry Pi OS which is based on Debian. Same model firestick. Using Amonet-tank-v1.2.2. Firestick is on version 5.2.9.5.

My original problem was the firestick wasn't loading any apps and would freeze up/crash after a few minutes. Then the remote stopped working. I could re-pair it with an OTG cable and keyboard but it would stop working again after a restart or crash. Apps couldn't be uninstalled. Update would come back with an error. Factory reset would fail and bring up Android Recovery 3e. I think this happened after an update but can't be certain. Perhaps the memory has just gone corrupt? But the firestick will boot and show login info and apps although basically nothing is accessable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.
