This video shows you how to fix a power and volume buttons on your fire stick remote. This is if your power button is not turning on your TV or your volume buttons are not changing the volume on your TV.
To fix this problem you need to go to settings. Go to equipment control. Select add equipment. Select TV. The fire stick will detected the TV. Select yes. Press the power button on your fire TV remote to turn off the TV. Then press the power button again to turn on your TV. The screenshot show โDid your TV turn off and then back on when you press the power buttonโ. Select yes. Your fire TV remote has been updated. Select OK.

This works. After selecting TV, you might have to press Change TV and reconnect the Tv with the remote.

I bought a TCL Roku TV and i had this problem as well for more than an month and i searched everywhere for a solution but it was pointless. I followed all the steps, my remote detected my TV (as TCL TV), but when i pressed the power of button, so i can finish the setting, my Tv wasn't turning off.
Solution: Change Tv, [ When it's detecting the TCL Tv, press NO and select from that list " ROKU", then follow the steps and it will work.

I am having this issue with a 2nd remote i am trying to pair. they remote works except the volume/power/mute. i tired what this video says but there already is a tv listed. what to do?
When I do that and turn off my tv itโll just go back to the Home Screen but itโll work once I turn it on and then afterwards wonโt stay connected and I have to go through the whole process again just for about 5 minutes of connection

When I go to "Add Equipment" tv is not listed on there. Im assuming because its recognizing it as already being connected. So now what could it be? Its driving me crazy bc we currentlyhave to get up to turn the tv off/on or adjust the volume. Please, anyone?

So what do you do if that doesn't work? It selects the right TV but the Power Button will not turn off the TV and no volume control. Just don't understand why after following the instructions.
