Wow… way to make this much more complicated than it needs to be. You can easily move already installed apps to and from external storage with ADB and two simple commands. Also, you failed to mention that any apps you move that were not actually intended to be installed externally won't update properly until they are moved back to internal storage.

I’m using a SanDisk Ultra Fit USB 3.1 256GB and I’ve seen people using storage devices up to 2TB.

What is the best app to open files on an USB HDD formatted NTFS or exFAT?
Is it still ES File Explorer?

I have a request for the next item to resolve…
Everybody that I know that has a newer Fire device they are having issues where they have to continue to sign into their WiFi.
Same issue I'm having as well.
With the 1st ,2nd generation devices once the wifi is signed in there usually is never an issue of the device dropping wifi signal,but all of the newer devices all seem to have the issue where it looses the wifi signal. Even if you try to re-enter your wifi it doesn't work unless you power down the device.
Just wondering of you are interested in doing a video on this other issue ??

Hi maybe you can help me I have done this before and either my firestick or USB drive messed up and it left me little grey boxes on my firestick and they would not uninstall so I had to do a factory reset is there another way without going another reset to get rid of these boxes with say SDcard my firestick

I've been running all my apps on my 32 Gb USB Sundisk 3.0 and I do not have any storage problems.

if the flash drive is formatted as full memory and I save movies on it – can I save movies when resetting Fire TV to factory settings ?

or in any case, all files are deleted ?

@TechdoctorUK It is worth highlighting to keep all TDUK apps on the internal storage, as they protect the device from Amazon. In the event of the drive failing the protections being run from the internal storage will still be in force.

What usb would you recommend for fire cube 3rd generation?

I’m using a sanDisk ultra fit usb 3.1 flash drive and AuviPal micro usb otg hub. I put the usb in and it pops up showing a picture the usb is in but it doesn’t give me the option to format it?

I have been ready for this for over a year. I have a terabyte ready to use, but the code to activate it is always shown too fast to copy (because of Microsoft, I have taken all my computers offline. I am using my phone).
Is it possible for someone to make a packet (program) to put the whole code into the firestick to expand the memory?
I was told by someone to format my flashes on my computer, not the firestick. I do have some iso's on them, but it doesn't show on the stick in native mode that it's internal or usb, just internal. I'm going to try xplore.

Hi, TDUK. Wow this was an awesome tip to save more internal space on my FireTV Cube. Before I used this copy and paste method I had 8GB of free internal storage space. The end result now I have almost 11GB of free internal space out of 13GB.
Thank you also for that tip, in part 1 to remove that Music app notification. That notification has been bugging me for quite some time. Thank you for all of your good tips!👍😀

This can be done simpler by using move instead of copy and paste. Unistalls on move then install.

All my big Streaming Apps, Netflix opens and closes won't stay open, Discovery+ will not open at all, Paramont+ took about 7 min. to open. Disney+ does not open. moved then back to internal and all work, guess they don't like being on a USB

And it dont move all of the data either………

Im on my third usb stick and nothing shows up on storage for my firestick. non of them show storage for the usb stick only the fire stick😊

Hello! Is it possible that I could, using this, copy an app from my Fire Stick 4K and put it on my Fire TV Cube? It's an app that Amazon now lists as not compatible with my devices, but yet, I have it on my one device.

Once the APK’s are reinstalled on the USB drive you can remove the APK installer files from the Downloader folder in X-plore or ES file manager correct?

Also not all apps work from the USB drive. Film+ keeps crashing running from the USB drive.

hey tech my usb is not showing downloader and it never gave me a option to format .when i open it up with xplore it show the usb is there and it only has the name of the usb and when you click on it there is nothing there where downloader should be????
