  1. Congrats on your return. I really like my 4k Max. You're right about not feeling a big speed bump, but the new hardware does seem to eliminate alot of the random weirdness (slow/frozen scrolling, apps not opening, home menu taking forever to populate, etc…) you see with older versions.
One big caveat for Logitech Harmony Remote users is that the Harmony Hub can't wake a sleeping 4k Max. The workaround requires getting into adb debug mode and disabling sleep. Not hard, but there's always the possibility of bricking your stick if you typo the wrong setting.

  2. A much better deal than the cube. It has the newer interface that still hasn't trickled down to my cube two. (PIP in menus etc) I also frees up room to get an actual echo in the same room if needed (newest echo has additional features like tempature readings and can work as an wifi extender). The MAX does everything my cube does but you have to hold down the blue button, but you don't need the A word.

  3. Thanks for the great review. One thing that is not mentioned with the Amazon Fire units, with so many free apps, many are included in their free guide. I also have the ReCast that gives me 36 OTA channels, so with the free ones added on, the guide has about 700 channels that goes out 2 weeks I believe. The Amazon Fire units are great!
