Great to see reviews on Cord Cutters News YouTube Channel again.
Congrats on your return. I really like my 4k Max. You're right about not feeling a big speed bump, but the new hardware does seem to eliminate alot of the random weirdness (slow/frozen scrolling, apps not opening, home menu taking forever to populate, etc…) you see with older versions.
One big caveat for Logitech Harmony Remote users is that the Harmony Hub can't wake a sleeping 4k Max. The workaround requires getting into adb debug mode and disabling sleep. Not hard, but there's always the possibility of bricking your stick if you typo the wrong setting.
I like the 4k max. I keep waffling about getting the Apple TV 4k, but this 4k max has all you need. I'm looking forward to what this new rumored Chromecast will hold! Hopefully, faster performance and better integration with YouTube TV.
Yeah, you’re back
Can you stream using this product on U-verse WiFi at only 3 MGB on an older Sony Bravia without much on it??
A much better deal than the cube. It has the newer interface that still hasn't trickled down to my cube two. (PIP in menus etc) I also frees up room to get an actual echo in the same room if needed (newest echo has additional features like tempature readings and can work as an wifi extender). The MAX does everything my cube does but you have to hold down the blue button, but you don't need the A word.
I'll take the Roku 4K streaming stick any day over the Fire Stick.. Just my preference.
I use a custom launcher so I don’t have to look at all the clutter. Bought mine the first time they went on sale.$35
Thank you for your review glad your back 😊
Yes ! Your back finally
Could you review the AI upscaling feature on the new Fire Cube??
Luke, it is really good to see you again on CCN. All is right in the cord cutting world.
Between this device and the Roku and Apple TV, is the Apple TV the only one that does not have ads?
Welcome back Luke
Thanks for the great review. One thing that is not mentioned with the Amazon Fire units, with so many free apps, many are included in their free guide. I also have the ReCast that gives me 36 OTA channels, so with the free ones added on, the guide has about 700 channels that goes out 2 weeks I believe. The Amazon Fire units are great!
Great to see the fire TV stick making forward progress. Awesome review as always Luke !
The one thing making me consider this to replace my older Ultra is the browser. Still don't like the UI, it's too busy, at least it will let me choose my own apps, unlike my new Vizio tv.
I'm ready for a completely radical change with the firestick…
Not the same thing every time
That's why I'm not changing from the 4k one I'm using..
Looks great tho…..oh well
Im getting one of these this week or next week,I'm really excited, from all the vids I've seen it's an amazing device, the UI also looks nice, even tho it had a lot of ads if they are personalized to what I like,I don't mind
You dint touch upon the topic of audio quality or video playback options….
Just ordered one because the F1 TV Pro app is not available for Samsung TV. And our regular Chromecast 3 just does not work great when casting F1 from my tablet.
