How to plug amazon Fire stick into Laptop / PC and watch fire tv stick on windows laptop or computer.

How to use Fire TV stick on your Laptop HDMI?
You can’t just plug your fire stick into an HDMI port on your pc or laptop and expect to be able to view it. The HDMI ports on your pc or laptop are output only which means that they are only capable of outputting video to connected devices such as your monitor, projector or tv. They do not facilitate incoming video feeds because we can’t use the HDMI port to input the video feed from your fire stick to your pc or laptop.

So to do this all we will need some sort of video capture device. Please search video capture devices on amazon
1. Plug your fire stick into the HDMI port on your video capture device.
2. plug the USB port from your capture device into any spare USB port on your pc or laptop. your first stick needs power, so make sure you connect the power supply to your fire stick as well.
3. download and Install OBS Studio & set up obs to view the video feed from the fire stick.

  1. Doesn't work with OBS version 29 – all I get after following the steps, to the letter, is the Fire TV logo for a few seconds, then a black screen – After much searching on the forums, I've read that anti-piracy software built into the device blocks streaming through a video capture card – It would be good to see an update to this video with a solution for this problem as I just want to watch the streaming services while traveling and don't always have access to a TV
Note I found from the research – Quote: "There may be another complication that comes with using a capture card to watch your FireStick on a laptop. The FireStick uses the HDCP, or High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection, protocol. This is an anti-piracy tool that prevents digital content from being copied. Most video capture devices do not work with HDCP. You may need to use an HDMI switch to bypass the encryption protocol that powers HDCP. Essentially, an HDMI switch makes it so only the standard HDMI signal can go through. But first, you should try using just a video capture card in case an HDMI switch is not necessary.

  2. I hate having an ugly TV and don't watch much of it. Since I need a high end business computer and am now located in Panama to do my writing business remotely, I have been looking for a way to use my computer instead of a TV. I think this video gave me the last missing piece to make this possible. Thanks
