A reaction from Just Jen Reacts, clipped during one of her live streams.

Jen reacts to Kodi Lee performing his cover of “A Song for You” for his audition on America’s Got Talent 2019. This track was originally written, recorded and performed by rock singer and pianist Leon Russell in 1970.

Kodi Lee earned a golden buzzer for this performance, sending him straight through to the live shows. His winning journey in the 14th season of America’s Got Talent, propelled him to fame.

Kodi demonstrates that no matter what obstacles may be blocking our way.
We all have the ability to overcome and to achieve extraordinary things.
We just have to believe and to have good people around us.

There are many charities around the world that can provide advice and support for individuals who are on the autistic spectrum, and also for their families.
As an example, here are two in the USA:

(And of course, they would be more than happy to receive donations too!)

  1. My son also has autism. Mentally they generally have a disadvantage, but there is always at least at 1 point that they are extremely good at. And what they do MUST just be perfect. For example, he got woodworking at school, and if the teacher said something was good, he thought it could still be better. And what my son excels in is war history about WW2. (you would also like him, because he is a big fan of Nightwish and Sabaton πŸ˜‰ )

  2. This is a beautiful family. His mother is a wonderful inspiration of faith, patience and strength. Kodi Lee is a prodigious musical savant, has perfect pitch and an audio photographic memory. He hears a song once, and he can recall every note from the piece. Kodi Lee rocks! πŸ’œ

  3. random dumb take on pronouns for 0 reason. if a change in pronouns is enough to confuses and stop your world then thats on YOU. its not difficult to respect someones wishes, I dont need to understand the exact reasons, if someone asks me to call them something Ill do it cause aagain…its not difficult.

  4. I have worked with autistic children for 20 years, and this never fails to bring me to tears πŸ₯² The whole family is amazing. His rendition of Bridge Over Troubled Water is also out of this world. His falsetto runs, omfg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

  5. When I was in middle school, I think it was called junior high back then, I went to a school that focused on arts, but also focused on special needs. The phenomenal thing that this school did, was create a homeroom environment, where we loved each other, regardless of anyone calling you gifted, or handicapped.

Gary was autistic, and difficult to communicate with, if you didn't know how to talk to him. He met every single one of us, and we all remember the moment we met Gary. Within a minute, he gave you a nickname, and it was always positive, and it was always accurate!

In 10th grade, when we were all about 14, he met Charlie, one of my favorite people on the planet! Charlie had the quickest mind and sharpest humor I had ever encountered. Her laugh was infectious. I was so excited for Charlie to meet Gary. When they met, he grabbed her hand and jumped up and down with her! Then we all settled down, and he said " see you later, Sad Smile!". We didn't think much of it, because nothing about Charlie was sad!

But he was right. Charlie left us, by her own hand, and Gary saw it coming.

  6. Lee is a 26-year-old blind and autistic singer, pianist, and musical savant. He has perfect pitch and an audio-photographic memory that allows him to recite songs after listening to them once. Lee has performed around the world and won season 14 of America's Got Talent.

Kodi was born legally blind, suffering from optic nerve hypoplasia, as well as Addison’s disease. Later, he was diagnosed with autism. However, it was quickly discovered that he not only had a passion for music, he had a talent for it as well. In fact, Kodi is considered a musical savant, and one of only about 25 currently in the world with that level of ability. He can sing, play the piano (which he taught himself to play), and write songs. Kodi can also memorize a song after hearing it only once.

This past May, Kodi auditioned for AGT, singing and playing Leon Russell’s, β€œA Song For You”. His performance moved all 4 judges to stand and applaud, and moved one judge to give him the Golden Buzzer.

  7. No, I would not give you false hope

On this strange and mournful day

But the mother and child reunion

    Is only a motion away

    Oh, little darling of mine

I can't for the life of me

    Remember a sadder day

I know they say let it be

But it just don't work out that way

And the course of a lifetime runs

    Over and over again

No, I would not give you false hope (no)

On this strange and mournful day

But the mother and child reunion

    Is only a motion away

    Oh, little darling of mine

    I just can't believe it's so

Though it seems strange to say

I never been laid so low

    In such a mysterious way

And the course of a lifetime runs

    Over and over again

But I would not give you false hope (no)

On this strange and mournful day

When the mother and child reunion

    Is only a motion away

Oh, oh, the mother and child reunion

    Is only a motion away

Oh, the mother and child reunion

Is only a moment away (oh oh)

Oh, the mother and child reunion

    Is only a motion away

Oh (oh), the mother and child reunion

    Is only a moment away

Oh, oh, the mother and child reunion

Oh, is only a motion away

Oh, the mother and child reunion

Is only a moment away (way, way, way)

  8. Yes, they are smart. They are locked away, a wall of some incredibly complex neurological manifestation forever separating what their…. the only word that …. their self/soul/awareness, who they are on the inside that most of us can bring forth to the socially interactive foreground, they can never share, even though they perceive the goings-on of the rest of the world, only the very smallest bit of what they would express is able to penetrate that tenuous yet resistant veil.

  9. KODI'S BACK! HE'S ON AGT FANTASY LEAGUE 2024 WITH AN ORIGINAL SONG HE WROTE! GUYS, YOU'VE GOT TO SEE THIS ONE TO BELIEVE IT…THIS ONE'S GONNA GO VIRAL BIG TIME.
