  1. I followed all the steps in this video, after changing the batteries for the third time in a week. The remote started to feel hot, so there is clearly something wrong with it. I contacted amazon as suggested. I gave him an explanation of everything I did. The rep asked… "Have you tried fresh batteries?….."

Long story short, after a bit of back and forth he agreed to send me a free replacement remote.

Hopefully Amazon has fixed the issue and I won't have to go through this again.

  2. The only solution that saved my physical remote was that I downloaded the Android FireTV App and used it as a temporary remote to navigate the UI and Factory Reset the Firestick. After that I was able to re-pair my physical remote to the firestick. I was trying to use the Firestick using a HDMI switcher box. This was a hardware bug that was triggered inside the firestick and stopped my physical remote from pairing or being reset. I was on the verge of opening it up and making a self repair attempt. But wisdom prevailed on me and I thought of doing a factory reset as a last resort. I had hardly used this stick in the last 2 years.

  3. it's odd that so many are having this issue and yet the Amazon Customer Service has no clue. They just told me to buy a new remote and contact them when it's received to get a refund.
I've had this remote for 3 months and it only started doing this (low battery notification immediately after replacing with brand new Energizer batteries) about 2 weeks ago

  4. My batteries have been "critically low" for about a year. The remote is still working fine with those same batteries. I think this is just a way for them to just sell you more batteries as my Alexa reminds me of the low battery alert and suggests letting her buy new Amazon batteries for you.

  5. My remote has done this since the supplied batteries went dead. Every 2 weeks for 8 months I have to replace the batteries if not sooner. I have done the steps many times and then did the tech help and their help was I need to buy a new remote control or a new TV. I'm beginning to think this is something that is programmed into the remote to get folks to buy a new remote and some to buy a new TV thinking it's the TV not the remote.

  6. I’ve had my fire stick for almost a year and recently it started draining new batteries to dead within 2 days. I did the reset technique but afraid to leave the batteries in. I did contact Amazon and was advised to purchase a new remote which was roughly $18 and to contact them again when it arrived to receive refund.

I do have another fire stick on another tv and that one isn’t fault, yet

  7. HELP!!!!! I bought a new amazon firestick JUST so I could have a 2nd remote in the living room. I successfully paired the 2nd remote to my firestick that we have already had for a couple years. It worked for a while then I started to get the “low battery “warning. This is a NEW remote. I didn’t even use the amazon batteries, I used new energizer ones. I have tried all the tricks unplugging the fire stick, resetting my remote, holding down the home button, holding down the “three” buttons down together. Restated my fire stick, seriously these are just comical things that they are trying to get us to do. Can anyone help???
