  1. what if its an older fire stick that hasn't been used in a VERY long time and the boot loop is appearing? I've tried leaving it loop for a day, nothing. Took the top adapter hook up off and plugged the actual stick into the HDMI, nothing. all the same. stuck on boot loop. I even tried unplugging it (mind you it hasn't been plugged in for over a year at least maybe more. I don't know what to do at this point. Please help!!

  2. I have tried to do the factory reset as the other potential fixes didn't apply to me or didn't work. However, nothing happens when I press and hold those two buttons – even when holding for a long time. What next?

Thank you for the clear explanations. I think it is highly likely that I lost connection during an update based on what you shared and what my internet connection tends to do.

  3. Ok, so after trying every trick in multiple videos….I finally got my firestick out of the loop of death. My fix was accomplished by switching the original power cord and adapter with a different one. I tried multiple ones. But finally I used a white one that I don't remember what it was for, but after I switched to that one and let it go through one loop that came on after I powered my firestick back on, it worked again.. hope that helps.

  4. Thanks , but if you’ve tried to reset ? By holding down the buttons you’ve talked about and still nothing ? And I’ve tried holding the “ Home “ button and I still get no reaction ? Is it done , i’ve watched several videos on this matter, with some variations of how to reset, but all in all still the same ? If my fire TV is not reacting to holding down the buttons as prescribed, is it completely done? I might as well trash it. ?

  5. This is a great vid (!) but it did not solve my problems, unfortunately. I bought 2 new firesticks-4k to replace one old one + one new TV. Both new units got stuck on "unable to update". I tried all of the suggestions (unplug/replug, restart with remote, factory reset with remote, & all other suggestions. Nothing worked on these 2 new firesticks. However, the old one still worked.

I finally called Amazon customer support, got transferred to the fire tv tech folks, & they fixed the problem! It turns out that the new units looked like returns, so were turned off in my profile (behind the scenes-I couldn't see it but they could) by Amazon. Once I explained & got the tech folks to understand, they had to go back into my profile & turn it back on again. Voila! Thought I would share this info to help others. Good Luck.

  6. It worked!! I tried every way you mentioned and ended up having to do the factory reset. However, instead of a reset it finished an optimization from an update. This video was on point! Thank you! I saved $50 because I didn’t have to buy a new one. Patience is a virtue that pays..🤗
