In this video I show how to DVR and record anything from a Roku, Firestick, or other streaming device. You can record apps such as Pluto TV, Stirr, Paramount Plus, Tubi, Peacock, and other streaming apps (or IPTV services) with the Cloner Alliance Box.

A few important notes. The HDMI recorders will NOT record from a smart TV. You need a separate streaming device like a Roku or Firestick and a flash drive.

  1. I'd be interested to see how, or even if, a VCR could be programmed to record HDMI video. Maybe if the HDMI-out from the antennae/stream box was converted to RCA or coaxial, then connected to the VCR input, then the coaxial-out or RCA-out was converted back into HDMI for the HDMI-in on the TV. I wonder how much that would interfere with the final picture and sound quality.

  2. Can I record shows on Puffer? There is a two hour time difference so I have to stay up till 11PM to start watching shows. If I can how would I go about it. I have a Roku player and a lg smart tv. Your help would be much appreciated as I live to far away from tv towers to pick up anything over the air. Thanks

  3. I use Channels DVR with their TV Everywhere function to record shows from Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus, Stirr, Plex TV, and my TV antenna.

For antenna TV, I am able to set up programs 14 days in advance. For streaming services, I am able to set up recording hours in advance. But what is really cool, you can set up Passes.

With Passes, you can set up an advanced script to record by Title, SeriesID, Cast, Season/Episode Number, Keyword, or Search Criteria.

For example, right now I have Passes set up to record any future shows with cast of Bruce Lee. Another pass set up to record Newhart final episode S08E24 The Last Newhart. I have another pass set up to record any show that contains the word "Iceland" in the description.

I have used ChannelsDVR for two years at either $8/month or $80/year. And No, I have nothing to do with promoting them, I'm just a happy customer.

  4. Hey AntennaMan, any way to use a Black Magic Ultra studio 3g to record these apps? I was able to successfully record ultra high quality shows off of DirectTV Streaming into my MacBook Air (now att tv now) in black magic native software, and a Swift Capture window maybe about a year ago, and after I successfully did this, this ability shut off, just recorded the first few seconds of audio and video, then only recorded a black screen, while audio continued to record. My theory is the streaming apps can see what devices are connected to your computer and they shut off. What method works if you don't have a TV and want to record into your Mac – the highest quality available? (like to grab clips from news shows to edit them together). Thanks!
