  1. Boogie!!! Yes, Cody leaving is a small blow, but the WR numbers & production had EVERYTHING to do with this Josh Heupel offense!! This gives us an opportunity to upgrade that coaching position with the season we had last year. This hire and the development of our receivers will be critical for the success of next season. And, I still trust Coach Hype to go find a DUDE to coach these players. Going to be very interesting going into the Spring!! Get Your Ticket!! Next season TN will be 9-3 by the end of the year. 10 wins with a Bowl game victory!!

  2. No shock factor but I thought that storm had past us by… yeah the kids loved burns but as others said excellent Trooper Taylor would just fit and can relate with the kids maybe even better than Burns.. look at it this way Tillman was the only one who truly flourished under burns… yes Payton and V.Jones played well but not a turn around like Cedric… The younger recievers just didnt come along as expected.. not to take anything from Burns but I dont think it hurts us as bad as many may think.. GBO!!!

  3. I'm all for Trooper Taylor or Montario Hardesty like Swain said. Whomever it is must meet some big criteria. They have to be a proven ace recruiter, a proven teacher that has put guys into the NFL, and they have to have a good personality that will allow them to work well with the other coaches.

Matt Wells could be an interesting name as well. The Columbia, SC native with recruiting ties all over the country from nine years as a HC could be very interesting.

  4. Wish him well and happy he is getting an opportunity to advance his career. Tillman's improvement was twofold: 1. Good QB play and 2. A scheme that was favorable to his skill set. I do finally believe we are a desirable location for offensive position coaches and it should be a competitive hiring process (a good thing). Tre Lamb is an interesting name but not sure he would give up a head coaching gig without being at least a coordinator at the SEC level….

  5. Boogie I have to disagree on what you said in this session. I don't think the Vols over performed not one single bit! I think they improved up to their capabilities that they had while peanut head Mr I don't know what asparagus is was there. They got a real Coach, so no I do not think they over performed I think they stepped up a great deal in player performance that they already had they just didn't have the right coaching staff to get it out of them ! I love you boogie no disrespect man but I don't think they overachieved at all it was there all the time they just didn't have the right people in the right places and get it out of them. Tennessee has never ever ever ever been short on talent! I'll use this one example no two examples Veluss Jones and his name escapes me right now but the running back who is now with the New Orleans saints they were there all that had to be done was let them play! Use them for the abilities that they had Mr donut didn't have the sense to recognize that cjh does and we're going to come out of this on the better side because I like somebody else said earlier, you sure he's already got a replacement in mind for the YEAAH, I'm going to say it, the trader that run out on us after one year like Lane Kiffen that's the only way I can look at it ! He saw a very good stepping stone he knew what talent we had and he knew what CJH could do with it and saw it as a great stepping stone, he apparently had no dedication tonight only this team the state or anything to do with it he was just looking for the next step on the ladder, but I'm sure CJH has a better replacement than him in mind already can we get him that's another story but we ain't going to lose nothing CJH ain't going to let that happen he's in and he's in all the way and just WHO he needs to surround himself with IDK UT IM SURE HE DOES . I would prefer to see either a wide receivers coach with the capabilities of BEING in the NFL or a wide receivers coach who is already in the NFL and not just any NFL coach a damn good one !!!!! Tennessee's got the money all they got to do is go get him. NUFF SAID ?

  6. Yea, I agree Boogie, i believe this is a Huepel offense. Those receivers were schemed open, their talent didnt jump that much. Someone said Witten wanted to come home, I really like that idea. It's a small enough position, if it goes south were not looking at another 3 year plus rebuild.

  7. Certainly you cannot fault a coach for making a transition that better suits him and his family. As a fan of the Volunteers, I always hope that we can upgrade whenever we lose a coach or player. Thanks coach Burns for all the hard work you put in as an assistant coach for the Volunteers. GBO!
