Samarachi kodi is mostly prepared in the Northern villages of Goa .its prepared during the bikareachem jevonn.

many of the recipes call for rice or rice flour ,but mama’s recipe uses vatana chickpeas .the chickpeas is her secret ingredient . This is the authentic Samarachi kodi recipe.

Tips:
▪️The curry taste better the next day.
▪️Chickpeas(vatana) are added just to give thickness to the curry. Instead of 1 tbsp, 2.5 tbsp of vatana chana can be added for the curry to be thick.
▪️Rice can be added inplace of chickpeas

Total Cooking Time: 2 hours
Serves : 4

Ingredients:
To Dry Roast Individually
1.5 tbsp coriander seeds
1.5 tbsp fennel seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp black peppercorns
6 kashmiri red chilies
1 tbsp white chick peas (vatana)
Few fenugreek seeds
¼ tsp mustard seeds
1 cardamom
½ inch cinnamon stick
1 mace
1 petal star anise
5 cloves
A piece of turmeric or ¼ tsp turmeric powder
A small piece of nutmeg

1onion
2 cups grated coconut
1 tbsp oil
2 sprig curry leaves
1 raw mango seed (paddo) (dried or fresh)
2 slices dried or fresh raw mango
1/2 cup dried prawns
