America’s Got Talent has introduced viewers to many talented acts during its 14 seasons on the air. However, 23-year-old singer and pianist Kodi Lee might just be the best one of them all.

Kodi, who is blind and autistic, first captivated audiences with his flawless cover of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You.” which was originally written and performed by Leon Russell.

For Kodi, his journey began years before the magic of AGT and he has worked exceptionally hard to master his craft.
The oldest of three children for Eric and Tina Lee, Kodi currently lives in Lake Elsinore, California with his family.

His sister Kayla and brother Derek can be seen supporting Kodi backstage along with their parents during the audition. In addition to his family, Kodi also has another supporter that many AGT fans may recognize. His best friend Mikayla Phillips, who appeared on season 13 of America’s Got Talent. Mikayla also earned a golden buzzer during her appearance on the show and made it all the way to the semi-finals. The two regularly perform together, and he supported Mikayla throughout her AGT journey, just as she has done for him this time around.

Kodi was born with optic nerve hypoplasia, a visual disorder that has rendered him legally blind. A Youtube video posted by Kodi and his siblings explained that he has no vision in his left eye. He does have some slight vision in his right eye but it’s like trying to find a hole to look through in swiss cheese. At the age of 4, Kodi was diagnosed with autism and he also suffers from Addison’s disease, a potentially life-threatening condition caused when the adrenal glands don’t produce enough of the hormone cortisol.

  1. I think his mom and family knows whats best for him, and it sounds like if he sets his mind to do it "he could do anything he wants!" this guy deserves to share his love for music and ya know what I think everybody is listening to whatever this guys got to share cause its amazing, beutiful.. 2. I have 30 years experience as a Pediatric RN. I have seen so many children/young adults with Kodi's issues. I have also witnessed the insurmountable stress and heartbreak each family must endure. My goodness, Kodi and his family are an example to others that may have the same or like issues the insight of possibilities. When I listen to Kodi my heart swells and I cry happy tears for him and his loving family. I have absolutely no doubt that His family will know what is best for Kodi. God bless you Kodi and thank-you for blessing all who see and hear your many talents. Warmest regards, Debbie from Tallahassee, FL

  3. ABSOLUTELY he SHOULD compete on AGT The Champions!! I am a huge, huge fan and hope one day that he graces Atlanta, GA with his presence. At the end of the day, I would respect Kodi's decision because I am a huge fan. Thank you Kodi Lee for sharing you talent. God bless.

  4. Our opinion of weather he should or shouldn't matter. He's a very special person indeed and the choice should be up to him. No pressure. He's got more talent that I ever saw in just 1 person that's for sure. He truly is a genius and an inspiration to us all. He's wanted this for a long time and if he wants to do it, all the best to him. Weather he wins or loses is really not important at this stage as he has already reached a long time dream to be recognized. He captured our hears and souls. I'm no musical expert but I do feel a person's heart and emotions and this guy made me cry. It's not the words from any of the songs he sang that made me cry but the emotion in the words that came out. He can truly deliver any song ever written on earth with emotion and passion. This guy is a true genius. Well done!
