I always put my FS 4K MAX to SLEEP. I'd prefer to have the option to turn it OFF. Because, although it probably doesn't use very much power, I'd like to save as much electricity as I can, since electricity is SO EXPENSIVE… AND I'm sure it would put less wear & tear on the stick itself and extend it's LIFE.
I have my Firestick powered by the TVs 1A usb port and the TV is plugged into a Tapo smart plug, so when the TV turns off fully the Firestick is also off permanently. If you use the mains to power the Firestick then using a Tapo smart plug with a multi power strip works the same. Obviously turning a wall power socket switch or unplugging does the same.
I have an app I use every time I use the stick it’s called Back ground app and processes, clear all cachè and force stop, which stops the program, then go to developer options and press deep sleep, this just cuts off the WiFi, or pull the power from the stick
My Firestick is powered from the mains through the FS power supply adaptor. The power supply is plugged into the mains through a TP-Link Tapo wifi plug, which I contol via an app on my phone or tablet. When I have finished using it for the day, a smple tap on the app turns the power off (or back on). I control a number of other devices the same way, including a Tapo Camera.
I have a remote control outlet. Plug the outlet into the wall with the fire stick plugged into the outlet. The remote control is right next to your recliner to turn it on and off
Actually, you really don't want to power it off completely because I believe Amazon runs updates while it is not being used, so if you power it off, you may have to wait for it to do updates after you turn it back on or power it up. Depending on the size of the download and the update, that can take a long time and some folks may think the firestick is broken or locked up and try rebooting it over and over again which could really mess up a download or an update that is in progress. Best bet is just leave it alone. If you can't afford to power the firestick all the time, you likely have much bigger problems you need to address in life.!!
Easy fix – Hold Alexa Button and then say Power Off Fire Stick!! If it is in power down, then hold play/pause and select at the same time for about 10-12 seconds and it should power it back up!
Pretty cool you make a video titled "How to turn off your firestick" only to tell us shit we obviously already know or the question wouldn't have been asked. Thanks for wasting a few minutes of my life.
And for God's sake trim your chest hair or something. Or is that just a sweater under your shirt?
My 4k max remote batteries last forever but my firetv cube batteries last 2 days. I was told this as it continually is searching for the tvcube when in sleep or running in background. Drives me nuts changing batteries literally every 2 days. All updates done also so can't be that.
Up until a couple of days ago I just used the TV usb port and it worked fine HOWEVER, the last couple of days it’s now in a boot up loop when I turn the TV (and fire stick) on. After unplugging the fire stick and using it’s adapter for its own power supply there is no boot up looping but now I’m back a square one with fire stick never powering off. Any ideas about why the looping is happening, there was update at the same time the looping began. Cheers
If your tv will power the stick from the usb it may power off when the tv does . One of my tvs does this as it has to reboot every time I power the tv on.
I have a mibox and one of the things I love about it is that you can just ditch the tv control and only use the mibox controller for the tv and the device.

I plugged my Firesticks into a Smart Mini Smart Plug. Then when i'm done watching it, I tell Alexa to turn it off.
It is possible to turn off the firestick using a OTG cable and a universal remote that has the dangle, I discovered it yesterday
I always long hold the home button. Turn the plug off once a month or so.
I have added a alexa plug 2 all my loaded sockets I have found this such a easy solution hope this help

Or I might tinker, cut the original power cable near the stick and fit a suitable power switch…. Please unplug the power first🤪😵💫
You hold the centre button and the play pause button at the same time for 4 seconds then your firestick turns of
To be fair I just leave it. If I plug into tv it says its not getting enough power!
Developer options then deep sleep works ok
Good video as always, bring back that NCS intro banger when you can always much appreciated!…… Why did the orange stop rolling down the hill……
Because it ran out of juice! Boom XD
As part of our economy drive we switch tv off – so I guess fire stick goes with it….
I've got a smart plug. Turn it off on my phone or alaxa.
plug usb into tv and when you turn off tv it turns off fire stick
I put mine to sleep each time. However, I may try plugging into the TV USB. That also eliminates plugging it into a wall source. Thanks for the vid.
I put mine into sleep when not using it.
when i am finish i put it in sleep mode.
I have my cube and other stuff connected to Alexa. So Alexa socket 1 off. Then in the morning socket 1 on. 🙂😉

Press and hold the Select and Pause/Play buttons for 10 seconds. (although, it may start back up 5 seconds later…)
I went to the library and knew someone put the books in their rightful places. Then I wondered why the left was empty.
I’ve found if you use a usb power lead from a port on the tv to the FS,it will shutdown with the tv.
A lot of people talking about the Deep Sleep mode. I have two firestick 4K, and neither one have that option. Is that setting only for Firestick Max?

You da man! Thank you
Thanks mate, I was starting to think that I was going mad or that the controller was dead lol.
Sketchy as fuck by amazon. Are they spying on us?
